| Every day PC's are getting infected with Spyware, Trojans, and Viruses. Many of these programs are getting to a point where, if you don't look closly enough, you will be infected because they are able to fool you into thinking that this is something you need to do or something that your windows operating system needs you to do.
Here are a few tips of what to watch for to make your internet surfing a little safer. Below is a prime example of something that looks like your windows program is sending to you to fix your computer. But let's show you why this is bad and where to check for problems like this.

| Before we get into this too far we fuzzed out the web site, we should mention that the web site in the background is not the cause of this. It is more likely this popup was installed on the computer at some earlier time without your knowledge. These popups can happen anytime - you do not have to be surfing the internet to have this happen.
So how do you tell the difference between spyware popups and windows popups.
|
| First thing to know is that if it is a popup of this type it will most likely have the words Microsoft internet explorer in the blue title bar at the top. The reason is that the popup has come to your computer through the internet / internet explorer and even though the hacker has tried to make the window look like a true Microsoft window, the fact that internet explorer is in that title bar shows that the program is Spyware / Trojan / or Virus.
The next step is to close this window. It is very important to know what to click and what not to click.

 |
| With this specific popup, if you click cancel, a couple of things could possibly happen. It could just take you to another window trying to repeat what you are trying to avoid. Always click the red X to close these types of applications. Hold the Alt key and press F4 is also another way to close this window (keep in mind this has to be the highlighted window to do this). Sometimes when you click cancel or no, it's the same as clicking OK or next because the hacker that has written this program has hidden the real action of this button. Just because something reads NO or CANCEL don't assume it will. |

|
| This is just one of several examples of popups and how spyware gets installed. Unfortunately, if not protected properly your computer just as to be turned on and connected to the internet to get any kind of infection. There are many companies out there that supply antivirus programs, popup blockers and antispyware programs. Our recommendations are shown to the right. |

| Lastly, things to help you keep your computer safe. Don't go to suspicious sites. If something does ask you to run this program on your computer, read closely. If you do not trust it, close it, and/or call us. We can tell you what is happening and more importantly, how to stop it. The last thing you want or need is someone damaging your computer, steeling your banking information or your identify. Never download something that you are unsure of.
